Muddy Mutts Dog Rain Coats…
A Little Bit About Us.

Do you have a Muddy Mutt? We certainly did. We are a mother, daughter team from rural Ontario who put our heads together to solve a very dirty problem in our house.

The problem? Two large, and at times, very muddy, wet dogs named Lucy and Penny, and one not so large poodle named Pyper.

They say necessity is the mother of invention and in this case, that is the truth. During fall, winter and spring, every walk with our dogs resulted in lots of clean up time before the dogs could enter the house. Not being ones to ‘dress’ up our dogs, we just wanted a practical garment to keep them clean, not make a fashion statement.

Our Solution? (this is where the necessity of invention bit came in)

Since all we could find in the stores were ‘all over’ rain suits, we dug out the sewing machine and attempted to design a garment that protected Lucy and Penny’s bellies and legs.

The results? (after several prototypes and redesigns) MUDDY MUTTS DOG RAIN SUIT.

Yes, initially, we got a few strange looks when we were out and about. After all, nobody had seen a dog in pants before. However, more and more with the double takes we heard…”what a great idea. I’ve been looking for something like that…” That’s when we knew, Muddy Mutts was something everybody could use.

The response has been very exciting. Every time another retailer comes on board or we see a dog in the park wearing a Muddy Mutts, we know we are on the right track. It’s obvious, people just like us, want to enjoy their dogs and make their lives a little bit easier at the same time.
